Byron Neslen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but has lived in Phoenix, Arizona since he was six years old. His first camera was a Canon G3 Range finder which he bought when he was about 12 years old from money he earn as a paperboy. Byron's father Jared helped him pick out his first camera and always supported his son in photography, an interest he had himself. His first class in photography was in the last semester of high school and the camera that was used for that class was a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Camera.

He received his Bachelors of Fine Art in Photography with a minor in Biology from Arizona State University. He has taught photography at Phoenix College. His work has been published in Arizona Highways, Arizona Republic and New Times Newspapers. He has shown work throughout the Phoenix area and can be seen in several galleries for First Friday in downtown Phoenix.

His primary cameras are an Arca Swiss 4 x 5 view camera and a 500CM Hasselblad. All the photographic prints are printed by the artist using a traditional color enlarger. None of the prints are inkjets. His work is traditional landscape and a documentary of the greater Phoenix area.
